Goldsea Hong Kong Marine Seminar Successfully held at Renaissance Harbour View Hotel
The Goldsea International 2025 Hong Kong Marine Seminar was successfully held at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel on November 14, 2025. This was the third in the Goldsea International Maritime Seminar series, and a host of guests from the shipping industry attended, with experts from law firms, classification societies, and financial and insurance institutions delivering insightful speeches.
The seminar was hosted by Goldsea International Company Ltd. (“Goldsea Int”), a professional consultancy company specializing in ship S&P and leasing, ship design and construction, ship financing advisory, shipping market intelligence, ship digitalization, and craft ship model services.
Mr. Jim James, a Consultant, and Mr. Gary Wang, a partner from Hill Dickinson, jointly delivered a presentation entitled “Shipping Financing Trends- USTR and Its Effects”. After summarising the salient features of USTR and Chinese port fees ( currently suspended) and the impact they are likely to have on shipping finance, they described two possible modifications of the standard sale and leaseback structure which might – subject to qualifications – minimise or avoid the risk presented by USTR port fees if the suspension is lifted.
Mr. Yuguo Fu, Deputy Director of ship Owners Segment, Key Account Management at Bureau Veritas (BV), shared the factors affecting ship operations under increasingly stringent environmental regulations, including: the International Maritime Organization (IMO) mid-term goals, a summary of the MEPC meeting, and the latest carbon intensity index rating standards. He also demonstrated the compliance costs that may arise under different scenarios with numerous charts and case studies.
The ship capital discussion session was moderated by Mr. Jianjun Wang:
Ms. Pauline Deltour from Tiger Group Investment shared insights on the available channels in the current ship financing market and the importance of flexible financing structures.
Mr. Simon Sai from ICBC shared the impact of USD interest rates cutting on ship financing and recent hot topics in ship investment.
Mr. Thomas Xing from CCB shared the advantages and challenges of Chinese financing and the future prospects of Hong Kong in the ship market.
Mr. Richard Tian from T&Z Insurance Broker shared insights on the impact of geopolitics on the insurance market and the risks and protections in the process of ship digitization.
Mr. Jianjun Wang, Founder of Goldsea Int, stated: This seminar focused on the latest hot topics in the market. The speakers shared their expertise from legal, financial, and shipping regulations perspectives. We hope that Goldsea International can continue to bring you more exciting and diversified maritime seminars in the future, and we thank you all for your continued support.
The seminar concluded successfully amidst lively discussions and active participation from attendees.
