Goldsea Istanbul Marine Seminar Successfully held at Wyndham Grand Kalamis Marina Hotel

On January 15, 2026, the Goldsea International 2026 Istanbul Maritime Seminar was successfully held at the Wyndham Grand Kalamış Marina Hotel. This event marked the fourth event of the Goldsea International Maritime Seminar series, attracting a distinguished gathering of industry professionals. Experts from Hanson Holding and ShipBid.Net delivered insightful presentations.

The seminar was hosted by Goldsea International Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Goldsea International”), a professional consulting firm specializing in ship sale and purchase, ship leasing, ship design and construction, ship financing advisory, shipping market intelligence, ship digitalization, and custom craftsmanship ship models.

Mr. Wang Jianjun, founder of Goldsea International, introduced trends in the newbuilding and ship demolition markets based on the current political and economic environment. He also explained the fundamental structures and requirements of ship financing and leasing, with a particular focus on promoting Chinese shipyards and financial leasing institutions.

Mr. Alan Yu, General Manager of Hanson Holding Turkey, delivered a presentation titled “The Supermax Market.” He reviewed the market performance in 2025 and provided an outlook for 2026. He noted that the synchronized growth in cargo demand and freight rates in 2025 reflected an improved market sentiment in the dry bulk shipping sector, particularly for small and medium-sized vessels. For cargo owners, he emphasized the need to enhance logistics planning and contract risk management to cope with rising costs. For shipping companies, he suggested that the current period presented a window to secure long-term returns. However, he pointed out that growth drivers varied across different markets. Looking ahead to 2026, the evolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict remains uncertain; China’s new steel export regulations may have a short-term negative impact on the market but are expected to be neutral in the medium term. Factors such as overcapacity, the potential resumption of Red Sea routes, and declining container freight rates could exert pressure on the bulk market. Nevertheless, expectations of further interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve may provide some positive momentum. Therefore, Mr. James expressed cautious optimism for the Supermax market in 2026, noting that regional markets and seasonal factors could present opportunities.

Ms. Ning Han from ShipBid.Net (Singapore) shared insights on “The Tanker Market from a Sale and Purchase Perspective.” Regarding newbuildings, she reviewed the 20-year development of the tanker market and analyzed the fleet size and orderbook for different tanker types. In the secondhand market, she compared price trends for newbuildings and secondhand vessels since 2007 and provided an overview of secondhand transactions by vessel type and country, with a special focus on the Turkish tanker shipowners on secondhand market.

Following the presentations, Mr. Wang Jianjun invited the two speakers to engage in an in-depth discussion on topics of interest to Chinese and Turkish shipowners, shipyards, and financial institutions, including shipbuilding, repair, and financing. Attendees actively participated with questions, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

Mr. Wang Jianjun remarked, “This is Goldsea International’s first seminar in Europe. The active participation of local shipowners and their keen interest in the Chinese shipping market were highly encouraging. We hope this seminar platform will serve as a bridge for collaboration between industry elites from both countries.”

The seminar concluded amid enthusiastic discussions and active participation from all attendees.
